A Voyage Into the Unusual

Outside Space at Salvage One
Last week my friend Reba and I went to a truly one-of-a-kind event at Salvage One. If you're not familiar with Salvage One, it's probably one of the coolest spots in Chicago. Salvage One, located on the near west side, boasts three floors and 60,000 square feet of antiques and architectural items that have been salvaged and recycled. The venue sells all of the antiques on the floor, but also hosts a range of events as well. We were there to attend a "Voyage Into the Unusual" sponsored by Scottish gin company, Hendrick's.

Salvage One was turned into a hands-on exploration of different activation areas that reflected the brand seamlessly. The second-annual consumer experience had no shortage of handmade cocktails featuring Hendrick's gin, as well as passed bites. There was also a cast of characters from a hot air balloon pilot, to a woman dressed as a potted rose plant. We enjoyed music from quite an unusual, yet wildly entertaining band, White Ghost Shivers. It was one of the most memorable events I've been to because it was unlike anything else I'd seen. The cocktails were so fantastic that I just might be a new lover of gin! Check out some photos I snapped during the event below. They don't do the space or the event justice!

Have you ever attended an event at Salvage One?
