In no particular order, here are the best things I ate in 2025!
Savory danish from Hewn
It's no surprise I love everything this bakery has to offer and their savory danish is no exception. The croissant dough has basil pesto and Parmesan cheese and is topped with chopped chives to bring it all together.
A girls' trip to our alma mater, Indiana University, led me to one of the best iterations of Chicken Parm I've tasted. In Bloomington, Indiana no less!
Sticky Toffee Pudding from Hawksmoor
This British steakhouse in River North has an impressive dessert menu including a sticky toffee pudding with a caramel sauce I nearly licked off the plate!
This summer my family headed to South Haven, Michigan where we enjoyed excellent food at local spots including homemade ice cream at Sherman's. The ice cream is super creamy and there's a reason there's always a line out front.
Another favorite bite from our South Haven trip was a good ol' meat and potatoes dish from a private chef we hired to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. The buttery potatoes and cheesy sauce were perfection.
Ceviche and fish tacos from Grand Velas Los Cabos
It was impossible to pick just one standout bite from our family trip to Grand Velas Los Cabos this fall so I picked two. The ceviche and fish tacos were some of the best I've ever had. So fresh, so tangy and so wonderful to eat in such an incredible oceanside setting. If you're looking for your next getaway, I can't recommend Grand Velas Los Cabos enough! It's forever ruined me for all hotel and spa stays in the future.
If there was one restaurant I frequented most in 2025, it was DeNuccis. I love to try out a variety of menu items but my go-to dish is always the Lumache Alla Vodka. Each noodle perfectly scoops up the creamy, acidic sauce that has the perfect touch of heat.
This brewery in Niles has one of the best fried chicken sandwiches that pairs so well with their beers. A brioche bun, gigantic crispy fried chicken breast and salty pickles make for a great combo.
Cinnamon Apple Crumb Cake from Deerfields Bakery
After my son was born a friend brought over this crumb cake and it literally made my jaw drop. It was truly addicting. The moist cake is studded with huge slices of apples and luscious cinnamon streusel on top. I highly recommend bringing it to your next get-together!

Latkes from Mensch's Deli
Everything at Mensch's is phenomenal, but the latkes (potato pancakes) are next level. I'm talking a well-balanced and savory potato-onion filling and an extra crispy exterior. I highly recommend it with their corned beef sandwich.

High-Top Apple Pie from Apple Holler
We love going apple picking every year at Apple Holler in Wisconsin (pro tip: go at the end of August and/or on a weekday for a much less crowded and more enjoyable experience). I never leave without getting their high-top apple pie to go. The top is light and crispy but it's the flaky, buttery crust that I just can't get enough of!
