Aloha in Chicago

May 23, 2010

The BF and I decided to try the spring prix-fixe dinner menu at one of our favorites, Roy's. I had been to several of their locations in Hawaii, Florida & Arizona and am always happy to have a location so close to home. We decided to try Roy's three-course menu which is a great deal for consistently changing & delicious cuisine!

I started with the Wagyu Beef Potstickers with Kim Chee Cucumber and a pleasantly spicy Firecracker Sauce while the BF tried the Mochi Crusted Ahi Sashimi topped with buttery foam. (Apologies for the dark photos...I didn't want to disturb the other guests!)

I also had Roy's famous Hawaiian martini, a pineapple-coconut cocktail that was perfect on such a warm evening.

Our second course was the Herb Grilled Lamb Chops with Port Wine Bordelaise Sauce (for me) and Pan Roasted Stuffed Chicken Breast with Parsnip Puree & Chicken Jus (for bf). I wasn't thrilled about the amount of fat on my lamp chops but overall, we both enjoyed the entrees.

Last, was what we had been looking forward to all meal, Roy's famous Melting Hot Chocolate Soufflé with a Molten Hot Center served à la Mode. We managed to save room for this decadent dessert and left full beyond belief!

Roy's changes their three-course menu each season, in addition to varying their regular menu offerings. Come hungry and you'll leave happy!
