Las Vegas Edition: Wicked 'Wiches

February 24, 2011

The first culinary stop after landing in Las Vegas was at Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio's gourmet sandwich eatery, 'wichcraft. I had been to one of the numerous New York locations of 'wichcraft and was pumped to find out there was a newer location inside of the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.

With an average meal in Vegas being a bit pricey, a stop at 'wichcraft is well worth the trip for a gourmet sandwich with a reasonable price point. The BF and I got the combo which included any sandwich, chips, a drink and fruit...way more food than I could handle. I chose the chicken breast panini with roasted red peppers, mozzarella, sliced chicken breast and pesto mayo on sourdough.

This sandwich was massive in both size and flavor, with heaping globs of warm, smoky mozzarella and zesty pesto. Aside from the greasiness, it was amazing and extremely filling!

The BF is a turkey sandwich fanatic, so when he saw turkey on the menu, he was sold! His choice featured thick slices of roasted turkey breast, carmelized onions, crispy bacon, and avocado on a ciabatta roll.

He really enjoyed the step up from a typical turkey sandwich, especially with the added flavors from the carmelized onions.

It was great to have a taste of a New York staple while in Las Vegas and the 'wiches were well worth the wait in line. The next time you're in Vegas and don't want to break the bank for lunch, swing by 'wichcraft for top sandwiches by a Top Chef! 'wichcraft gets 4 stars for its fresh ingredients and different takes on old sandwich staples.
