You Dawg, You!

September 7, 2010

A trip to the Chicago suburbs warranted a special stop at the second outpost of the famous hot dog drive-in, Superdawg. The Wheeling location, which opened earlier this year, boasts more drive-in spots, a larger dining room and increased outdoor seating, than the original Chicago spot. No matter what time you drive by, this landmark is always hopping and the signature hot dog statues are welcoming you in!

A beautiful night outside convinced the bf and I to dine on picnic benches as we ordered from the menu and waited for the car hop to bring our food (sans roller skates).

It's not a trip to Superdawg without ordering their signature "dish". Each box of pure beef love comes cushioned with crinkle fries and green pickled tomatoes. Any Chicagoan knows better than to order a hot dog with ketchup, so I secretly added mine post-delivery. BF is a superstar and downed two whole Superdawgs and fries (my body is happy I can't complete this task!)

Superdawg is the definition of hot dog--S. Rosen poppyseed bun, pure beef, and 100% delicious. If you're looking for a fun and different meal out, try Superdawg and enjoy the old-school experience and flavorful fast food. 4 1/2 stars!

  5. Ketchup is horrible. It's way too sweet and salty, more of a kid's condiment, along with ranch dressing, made to cover up flavors idiots are scared of, namely the same ones scared of food.

  6. I'll never, ever buy a Superdawg because since their policy is no ketchup, my policy is no Superdawg.

I'll take a Sabretts or a Nathan's grilled nicely, and enjoy it with ketchup. Only a kid would yell out "I don't WANT THAT!", so those who have a problem with ketchup are the ones acting like kids!
