Avocado-Yogurt Dip with Cumin

Ingredients for Dip
For this year's Superbowl, I wanted to make a crowd-pleaser, guacamole. However, I wanted to change things up a bit so I searched for different variations on this tasty dip. I'm a big fan of Cooking Light, so I searched their site and came across a recipe for Avocado-Yogurt Dip with Cumin.

The recipe is very easy to prepare as all ingredients are combined in a food processor. The base of the dip is plain yogurt. Start by adding the yogurt to your food processor (or blender if you don't have one) and then adding in three ripe avocados. Next chop a 1/2 cup of red onion, 3 tablespoons cilantro, 1 garlic clove and 1 tablespoon jalapeño pepper. I like things very spicy, so I added in an entire pepper. Finally, toss in  2 tablespoons lime juice (or as much as you prefer) and the spices- salt and ground cumin. The cumin flavor is very strong so if you're not a fan, don't add as much. Personally, I thought the cumin added a unique flavor that isn't often combined with avocado so I generously added it in.

Add All Ingredients to Food Processor

After all of your ingredients are in the food processor, gently blend until all the ingredients are combined to a smooth consistency.

Blend for a Few Seconds

You may want to taste test at this point, adding in more pepper or lime juice as you prefer. Be careful not to over-blend, as this dip is meant to be a thicker consistency, but not as thick as guacamole.

Dip Served with Tortilla Chips
I served the dip with some Trader Joes flax seed tortilla chips and fresh veggies, but this dip would be great with pita bread or chips or even added to your favorite sandwich!
